FIRSTLY!!! - What the BIG Branded Printer manufacturing Companies DO NOT want you to know!!!

Major printer manufacturers typically sell printers at or below cost. They make their profits from selling the OEM branded cartridges.

Formerly, once you bought your expensive new printer you had no choice but to buy one of their cartridges after yours ran dry.

HOWEVER TIMES HAVE CHANGED , by using compatible cartridges you are cutting into their primary source of profit. Because of this, they will threaten to void your warranty if you use compatible cartridges. They are simply trying to protect their own interests anyway they can.

They CANNOT VOID YOUR WARRANTY simply for using compatible cartridges. There is no reason that you should not use compatible cartridges. Compatible cartridges work and will save YOU money. We've sold hundreds of printer ink cartridges and laser toners and never had an incident where a customer's warranty was "voided" from using our products.

It is however strictly ILLEGAL for them to do so , the brand of cartridge, ink or paper you purchase is ALWAYS your decision.

What does OEM mean?

OEM is an abbreviation for Original Equipment Manufacturer and refers to the company which manufactured the printer, photocopier or fax machine, such as Canon, H-P, Sharp, Lexmark, Brother, Epson, etc. These manufacturers also supply replacement ink or toner cartridges and normally will put their name on these products, though their cartridges may in fact be manufactured by a sub-contractor. Squid inkjets provide our customers with a full range of OEM cartridges at very competitive prices. return to top

What are Compatible Cartridges?

Compatible Cartridges are 100% brand new and are an economical alternative to expensive name-brand cartridges and supplies.
Compatible Cartridges are specially manufactured to meet or exceed OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) specifications and high standards of quality and reliability. Designed to be 100% compatible and interchangeable with OEM cartridges, and containing only new components, they afford big savings over brand-name OEM Cartridges and supplies.

Please Note: The use of compatible generic replacement cartridges will NOT void your printer warranty, and each of these products is FULLY GUARANTEED!!! return to top

What are Remanufactured Cartridges?

Remanufactured Cartridges are OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) cartridges, which have been reprocessed to meet or exceed the Original Equipment Manufacturers` specifications. The Remanufacturing process involves disassembling, inspecting, cleaning, replacing parts, reassembling, and filling with toner or ink. The Cartridges are then print tested, sealed, and packaged for resale. Our Remanufactured Cartridges will perform in the same manner and to at least the same standard as the original cartridge. return to top

Warranty?

The Australian Consumers' Association Choice Magazine has undertaken a survey into the use of compatible cartridges and spoke to Epson, Hewlett-Packard, Canon and Lexmark. They were informed by all companies that the 'printer warranty would NOT be affected by the use of compatibles or refilled cartridges' . In fact in Australia it is illegal under the Trade Practices Act for a printer manufacturer to require a consumer to use a particular brand of ink or cartridge. The brand of cartridge, ink or paper you purchase is your decision. return to top

What is a printhead?

The printhead is the most critical component of our printer - it is used to deliver the ink to the page that you are printing. Don't touch the printhead with your fingers.

Your printhead is a consumable that can wear out over time, much like the brakes on your car. It requires proper installation and ongoing maintenance to ensure the long life of service for your printer.

Most print quality problems are a direct result of improper care of the printhead. Proper installation, ongoing attention and maintenance are the keys to maximizing the life of a printhead. return to top

What is the circuitry on the cartridge?

The circuitry that is seen on some cartridges (such as some HP or Lexmark Cartridges) is the ink delivery system or printhead. This mechanism is a system of nozzles that are used to push ink onto the paper. return to top

What is a nozzle?

Nozzles, or "jets" are located on the printhead. There may be anywhere from 48 to 320 nozzles on any printhead, and each of them is smaller than human hair.

Each nozzle is connected electronically to a heater (resistor) that actually heats and cools the ink inside the cartridge. When the ink is head, a bubble is formed. When the heat is removed, the bubble bursts and sends dots of ink through the nozzles and onto the paper in the printer.

This happens very quickly, creating dots that form print characters on the page at a rate of up to 6,000 drops per second. That is why you should never touch the nozzle or print head assembly with your fingers. return to top

What is a safety clip?

Some of our inkjet cartridges, particularly those for HP, Lexmark, are shipped in a protective plastic clip. This may cause the cartridge to appear like it won't fit inside the printer.

Please remove the shipping clip. After removing the clip, the cartridge will look exactly the same as your original cartridge. return to top

What is this tape on my cartridge?

An adhesive tape can be found on some models of inkjets. It may be one of several different colors and is used to protect the print head during transportation.

Please remove the adhesive tape before installing the cartridge into your printer.

Also, please do not use any other type of tape to protect the print head of your cartridge when you remove it from the printer. Sticky tape will push the glue resin into the nozzles of the printhead, thereby clogging them. return to top
