Overview
The Canon ImageClass MF4150 compact - economy enough to keep on or near your desk without feeling as if it's towering over you. Weight is not an issue weighing in at a 12.8Kg, simular to some of the large ink jets. The great news is it BIG functionality. It has the ability to operate as a standalone fax machine & copier, as well as being a printer. It will let you easily fax a document from your PC's hard drive. You can also scan to e-mail, by opening a new e-mail message and attaching the scan as a file.
With a 250-sheet paper tray, the Canon ImageClass MF4150 provides outstanding paper handing, more than most personal printers—and built-in duplexing (printing on both sides of a page). With it's 35-page automatic document feeder (ADF) to handle multipage documents for faxing, copying, and scanning. Scoring well on the the key printer concerns surrounding speed and output quality but particularly SPEED.
With its easy setup. Simply install the toner cartridge, load paper, plug in the phone cable and power cord, and you're ready for standalone copying and faxing. Run the automated installation routine and plug in a USB cable, and you can print and scan, aswell.
At 21 pages per minute the Canon ImageClass MF4150 provides an impressive clip for a small laser. More important, it lives up to its promise. It's the fastest AIO I've seen in its price range, taking 7 minutes 55 seconds on our business applications suite (timed with QualityLogic's hardware and software, www.qualitylogic.com ). The next fastest monochrome AIO in the MF4150's price range, the Canon imageClass MF3240, took 8:36. The somewhat more expensive Konica Minolta PagePro 1390 MF took 9:16.
The Canon ImageClass MF4150 is good enough for almost any office use although the print quality isn't as impressive as its speed.
Breakdown on Text quality:
More than 50% of the fonts including the typical business fonts in our quality test we easily readable. However the is did not have quite the crisp, clean edges that the best lasers offer.
The Canon ImageClass MF4150's graphics and photo quality are both expected for a monochrome lasers, a hint behind a the best available. For internal business use the graphics quality will pass the test. A common challenge with printers as experienced here was that thin lines tended to disappear, as with most monochrome laser graphics dithering was clearly visible in the form or repeating patterns at various gray levels in which I would be reluctant to hand the output over to a client I was looking to impress with my professionalism.
In saying that the Canon ImageClass MF4150's photos are of a superior quality that some other lasers can produce. Superior enough to copy a page with a photo, or print photos from the Web pages or in client newsletters. Which are l the most likely reasons for printing photos on a monochrome laser.
Summary
Focusing on one feature at a time the capabilities of the Canon ImageClass MF4150's vary from Good to Excellent. It is a seriously impressive package by combining its balance of functionality, speed, output quality, and compact stature
