Manufacturers put fonts in ROMs of the ink cartridge and laser printer. These fonts
are the fastest, so they should be the ones primarily used
for optimal performance of the object printer inkjets or
lasers. These fonts may be unique to the printer manufacturer,
forcing you to buy all future fonts from that company. This
encourages the company to charge a premium and makes availability
poor.Font cartridge design is controlled by the manufacturer.
Purchase only laser printers that have font cartridges available
from other sources.
Otherwise, you will be stuck with paying too much money
for poor quality and a limited selection of fonts from the
same company that made the printer.

If the font cartridges don't seem to be working, try asking
the printer to print all internal fonts. If the cartridge
fonts are not mentioned, yet the font cartridges are in
place, try pushing them harder (while the printer is off,
of course). There may be a connection problem.
